Carlei® Estate Wines was established in 1990, with its first commercial release in 1994. Through rigorous site selection across Victoria which include the Yarra Valley, Heathcote, and the Cardinia Ranges in the Port Phillip Zone adjacent to Melbourne—and more recently, the Coonawarra region in South Australia—the estate has developed a diverse and distinctive vineyard footprint. The implementation of certified biodynamic practices has enabled us to create a portfolio of Australian ultra-premium wines that honour both the land and the cosmos. Carlei Wines has been dedicated to pioneering sustainable and biodynamic viticulture, ensuring every bottle reflects the unique interplay between vine, soil, climate, and natural cycles—both terrestrial and cosmological.

At Carlei, our mission is to craft wines that tell the story of their origins or “Sense Of Place®” while respecting the environment and the art of winemaking. Through ongoing research into flavour development, Carlei Wines has introduced the term “Cosmoir®” to encapsulate the holistic relationship between terrestrial and cosmological influences on wine flavour. It is our belief that “Cosmoir®” will redefine the traditional concept of “Terroir.” Since 1990, Dr Sergio Carlei has had a focus on biodynamics and with a deep understanding of wine science, Carlei continues to elevate the craft of viticulture and winemaking. This expertise, combined with a passion for sustainability and innovation, shapes Carlei Wines’ enduring reputation for excellence.
